NSCC signs MOU with the Native Council Economic Development Agency
November 9, 2010 – Media Release
Dartmouth, NS – The Native Council Economic Development Agency (NCEDA) signed its first ever Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) today. The MOU will assist in creating and expanding post-secondary learning opportunities for Aboriginal Peoples.
"This MOU will allow NSCC to explore learning and training opportunities for Aboriginal Peoples across the province and build on those initiatives we've already undertaken," says NSCC Acting President Don Bureaux.
The Native Council of Nova Scotia is the self-governing authority representing the more than 80 per cent of Nova Scotia's Mi'kmaq/Aboriginal Peoples who do not live within Nova Scotia's First Nations communities.
"Advanced skills-training is essential to accessing good jobs in today's economy," says Reg Hurst, CEO of NCEDA. "This MOU will allow us to work with NSCC to build opportunities for Mi'kmaq and Aboriginal Peoples living off-reserve".
