State-of-the-art Bridge, Propulsion Plant and Communications simulators provide realistic, hands-on, non-threatening experiences with technology to students. Most of the courses are a prerequisite of certification or necessary to sustain Continuous Proficiency. GMDSS/GOC and GMDSS/ROC training requirements for Deck Officers are mandated with consideration to the type of voyage the vessel makes. Officers employed on vessels making international voyages are required to have a GMDSS/GOC. Officers employed in local trade may not be required to obtain a GMDSS/GOC. ROCM is provided on a challenge examination basis with preparatory resources.
