Scholarships, Bursaries & Awards
Nova Scotia Community College has enjoyed considerable growth recently in the number of awards available to our students. We are very grateful to our donors who support our awards program. Together we know the importance of recognizing student achievement and assisting with financial need. Awards may be specific to an individual campus or program and may be awarded upon program entrance or mid-year. Entrance Awards
NSCC has commenced a program of entrance awards that cover full tuition for the recipients. To date, 2 entrance awards are made per Campus. Application deadline (for the 2012-2013 Academic Year) is May 15, 2012.

Awards available to NSCC students are based on a variety of criteria – program, campus, achievement, diversity group, affiliation with an organization – and the criteria varies for each award. Detailed criteria is available in the award descriptions and at Student Services.

Teaching Awards
Garfield Weston Merit Scholarships for colleges
These substantial awards have been established to recognize outstanding college students who are passionate about their fields of study, curious and willing to try new things, are caring about family, neighbourhood and community, and truly interested in becoming involved and making a difference in society. In order to be eligible for a GWMSC award, a student must:
- be a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident;
- be presently enrolled in full-time studies at a public college in a certificate or diploma program;
- have at least one full academic year left in current college program and be pursuing his or her remaining studies full-time;
- possess a minimum academic average of 73% or equivalent performance level; (students who do not have their final marks at the time of application should submit available transcripts and mid-term marks; final marks will be requested if the applicant is asked to interviews); and
- be nominated by his her college.
