Admission Application Processing
We accept and admit qualified applicants for all programs on a first received, first qualified basis. This means we begin assessing your application once all the required documentation has been received. This assessment begins in November and continues until a program fills. It is important that you apply early to avoid missing the opportunity to be admitted to your chosen program. We will review your application when it is complete (all required documents are received) and notify you of the results as quickly as possible.
How to Apply (Full-time Programs)
- Review Programs – Choose a program that fits your interests and goals.
- Review admission requirements for your preferred program. If you're missing some of the requirements, you may still apply and indicate your plan for how you will complete the prerequisites you need.
- Check locations and seat availability – view program or program openings PDF
- Apply Online – Complete your application and pay your $25 application fee online (credit card required). You can also submit a paper application; attach a $25 non-refundable application fee to your paper application. Application fee is required to process all applications except those for the Adult Learning Program and the African Canadian Transition Program. International applicants must include a $75 (CAD) application fee.
- Indicate your program, and campus choice – You can submit up to 3 choices for 1 academic year with 1 application fee. 1 program at 2 different campuses is considered 2 choices. If you apply for more than 1 academic year of study, you will incur an application fee for each year, and applying for 1 program for 2 different years of study also results in 2 application fees (1 for each year).
- Send sealed copies of your official transcripts (high school, college or university), or arrange with your previous school(s) to send the transcript directly to NSCC Admissions. If you have Individual Program Plans (IPPs) on your transcript, please see the Special Admissions Process. If your specific program requires additional documentation, ensure that you send all required components. Admission requirements are stated in the program listings.
All documentation, including transcripts and other records required to assess your application, must be received translated from original language to English by a qualified language translator. NSCC cannot assess applications with documentation in any other language but English.
- Submit one application only. Changes or additions to your application may result in an additional processing fee of $25.
- Review your submission. Make sure it is correct. Your application will not be considered until you submit all the required documentation.
Avoiding Delays
To be considered for a seat in a program, we require the following:
- completed program application (including application fee)
- all other required documentation (entrance portfolio if applicable)
- sealed copies of official transcripts (high school, college or university)
Missing or inaccurate information can cause delays. Make sure your application includes the following:
- Full address, contact number(s), and email address. If you move or change your mailing address or email address, please contact NSCC Admissions immediately with your new contact information. We want to ensure you receive all communications from our office.
- Our preferred way to communicate with you is via email. Please ensure that the email address you have provided is secure and accessible. If you change your email address, please notify us immediately.
- Former family names (especially important if different from the name on your transcripts)
- Program choices and campus locations in order of preference
What Happens Next?
Assessment – Upon receipt of a completed application that includes all required documentation and the required application fee, we will assess your submission on a first-received, first-qualified basis:
- We will review your complete application and notify you as quickly as possible.
- If you are qualified for a program that has seats available, you will be admitted.
- If you are qualified for a program that does not have an available seat, you may be placed on a waitlist. If a seat becomes available at a later date, you will be contacted.
- If you are not accepted into a program, you will be contacted. There may be other NSCC programs of interest for which you may qualify.
Confirmation – If you're admitted to a program, you must reply with an intention to enrol, and payment of the required non-refundable confirmation fee, within the timeframe indicated in the decision letter/email you receive from NSCC.
- After confirming your seat, you will receive correspondence from us welcoming you to NSCC.
- If you do not pay the confirmation fee within the required time frame as indicated on your decision letter/email, you risk losing your seat in your program.
Tuition & Fees Payment – Each year, the first tuition and fees payment is due in early August (for programs starting in the Fall term). This payment includes tuition, Health & Dental Plan costs, and Student Association fees. If you do not make payment arrangements on time, you risk losing your seat in your program. If you're seeking, or have funding from a sponsoring agency, you need to advise your Campus.
